THE DRIVE

On the drive back from a visit to one of the local school districts in 2010, Steve Clemons, Assistant Superintendent and Chief Information Officer of the San Diego County Office of Education, noted that the influx of various tablet devices, ultra notebooks, and other computing tools was causing some confusion amongst even the techno-savvy.  As such, he thought it would be a good idea to provide the education leaders throughout the county with an opportunity to learn more about the myriad  tools and services in the market but in a no-pressure, educational environment.  With the aid of TechSETS and the Classroom of the Future Foundation as well as the generous donation of funds from local manufacturers and service providers, Innovation Day--An Education Electronics Showcase was born.

Since then, Innovation Day has become an event for education leaders (i.e. CTOs, Superintendents, Principals, Educators, etc...) from the region to convene and explore technologies currently available in the field as well as those that are emerging.  The event features presentations, product ans service exhibitions, as well as Think Tanks for teams of educators to discuss their current and future state of innovation.
